11:30 - 1800's Flag raising in Village and dedication of Commemorative Brick Plaza
1:00 - Women of the Sangamon River Chapter of the War of 1812 - in period dress,
invite you to join them in an 1800's era - Ladies Tea Party
Ongoing Activities from 11 to 4
- Pioneer children races and games conducted by Co-Sponsor Quincy Park District
- Rope Making, Candle Dipping, Brick Making, Baking & Pioneer Children's Games
demonstrated by "Nauvoo on the Road" throughout the day
- Village Log Cabins open, decorated with 1800's period items by Sullivan Antiques
- Religion in the 1800s talks by Rev. Paul Schwarztkopf portraying Rev. Asa Turner
- Wool Spinning and Chair Caning demonstrations
- Herbs used during Pioneer Times - see, smell and learn about - at Herb Garden
- School in the 1800's - see and experience how school was conducted in the 1800's
- Display of 1800s items - used for farming and everyday living
- Prairie Troubadour - strolls the village, playing and singing period songs
- Pioneer Crafts - activities for children to make 1800's items
- Rail Splitting Display - shows how it was done in the 1800's by Abraham Lincoln
- Ice Cutting Display - shows how ice was harvested from Quinsippi Bay and stored
- Farm Animals - display by John Wood Community College Agriculture Program
- Native American and Mountainman Crafts available for sale
Lunch by American Legion Auxiliary & Kettle Corn and Refreshments available.
